Six Free Songs at bandcamp /// Upcoming Show Calendar on MySpace /// Past Shows List

"This post-punk, art rock trio has already drawn comparisons to Sonic Youth. But Coyote Eyes is no cheap indie rock knock-off. Yes, like Kim Gordon, band member Marta DeLeon plays bass and sings, but her high, bird-like voice is more energetic than Gordon's. DeLeon shares vocal duty with Manny Nomikos, who matches her sprightliness with yearning, and introduces a subtle, clever dissonance with his guitar. And drummer Jeremiah McVay gives the song a sense of urgency with frenetic yet controlled percussion." -- WNYC

"Coyote Eyes’s blossoming talent may be what sets them apart from the bunch. The trio’s melodic lust is satisfied by menacing riffs, a pulsing base, and rhythmic highs and lows..." -- The Deli Magazine

"Their recorded songs are angular but melodic, and mix a variety of interesting influences. But live, Coyote Eyes are three fluent players with a ferocious stage energy... I knew they were good, I just didn’t know they were this good. I expect to hear a lot more from Coyote Eyes in the future — here and on other music blogs." -- NYCtaper

/// Named One Of Five Bands To Watch In 2nd Half of 2009 ///
"I've been increasingly smitten with this band since I first saw them in January. Their post-punk betrays a strong Sonic Youth influence, but they don't sound like Sonic Youth at all. Their perfectly-balanced rhythms, enticing melodies and enthusiastic live shows show they have what it takes to be a big name in the Brooklyn scene." -- Radio Flyer Review

"Like a disproportionate number of sharp new things at the moment, Coyote Eyes summon from Brooklyn and make rugged, metallic, yelps from somewhere far beyond comfort... Their songs are cleverly built and lackadaisically compiled - and this combination of spirit and slumber leaves them with a selection of songs that are uneasy but enthralling. Coyote Eyes prod at your worries but leave you strangely soothed." -- A Band A Day

"Coyote Eyes are worth way more attention then they've been given so far" -- Pop Tarts Suck Toasted

"[Coyote Eyes] attracted a sizable group of onlookers who seemed to admire the skill and tenacity with which the trio attacked each song. All three members walk that fine line between melody and freak-out with ease and work the interplay between male and female vocalists quite well. Their songs, and overall Coyote Eyes sound, is shaping up incredibly well." -- Ear Farm

/// Named NYC Band On The Rise ///
"...I had the privilege of getting my mind blown by a set by Coyote Eyes, a Brooklyn based trio with an original sound... Coyote Eyes turned on and put a step in many dancing witnesses that evening. They need to and are very well prepared to record an album." -- The Deli Magazine

"...Yes, this long rant is meant to introduce a new band that I am currently digging. Coyote Eyes is a trio from Brooklyn who demonstrate more than just potential, but punch and panache that are sorely lacking in a lot of new bands. I recently downloaded their set of recordings... and I can’t stop listening to it. Coyote Eyes are an example of why I love this era of music. Demonstrating innovation, artistry and vision, they are a prime example of why this new petri dish of an electronic age works. From the opening guitar chords of Yellow Red to the post punk meltdown at the end of Island Floor, their set of recordings–essentially six demo tracks–leave you wanting more and wondering why they aren’t signed. The band is fronted by Marta DeLeon (bass) and Manny Nomikos (guitar) who alternate and share vocals throughout this set of tracks. DeLeon’s vocals have an ethereal quality that hovers over the music, while Nomikos sings with a vulnerability that becomes immersed within the music. Drummer Jeremiah McVay combines with DeLeon to provide a solid foundation over which Nomikos’ guitar can accent, complement, or just plain growl. The result is a balanced group of songs that demonstrate their talent, and offers a reason to see and follow Coyote Eyes as they continue to progress." -- The DaDaDa
